Welcome - CNH LWML - Lutheran Women in Mission
August 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the CNH LWML,

When I was teaching fifth grade, August always meant the end of the summer and time to start preparations for the new school year. It was time to review curriculum, plan home visits to all my students, schedule field trips, and attend planning meetings with the rest of the staff. Now, as District President, August has me filling in my calendar with Zone Rallies and planning September meetings. What a Joy!

I will also be presenting Mission Grant check #1 to Chico State/Butte College Student Outreach, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Chico CA for $3,350.00 on September 12 and presenting the “HOPE” banner to Jackson Mission and Foothill Evangelical Lutheran Church in Valley Springs on October 10. Both of these occasions will give me an opportunity to worship with other Lutheran Women in Mission.

Ever since the convention and the funding of Mission Grant #2 – Concordia Seminary St. Louis Food Bank, St. Louis MO for $6,000 – I have been receiving wonderful thank you notes from the students and their families thanking us for our support of the Food Bank. One recipient noted that “our gift to the campus Food Bank feeds their bodies and our love lifts their spirits”.

“Feeding” our Mite Boxes during the summer will help us meet the Mission Grant goal of $15,000 for Good Shepherd Developing Religious Life, Good Shepherd Auxiliary, Capitola CA. The story of the widow’s offering in Luke 21:1-4 is the account of a poor woman giving all she had into the temple treasury. We too give our mites from our hearts as recognition of all that has been given to us to help where the Lord has planned our giving.

I hope you have taken the opportunity to sign up for Mustard Seeds on line. Simply go the http://www.lwml.org then Resources, then Devotions for a daily blessing!

The fall issue of Joyful Servant will be published next month. Look for current news and dates for upcoming events. Zone Presidents, Vice Presidents and committees are busy planning uplifting events to keep Lutheran Women in Mission - In the Word, Of the Word, and Walking with the Lord.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Colossians 3:15

CNH LWML President

Mite News

A New Mission Goal of $249,920 was set on Sunday Morning, May 2, 2010 at the 2010 District convention. A Mission Grant Goal of $124,960 was approved for 2010-2012 Mission Grant Proposals.  Praise the Lord and pass that Mite box, quick!

  • Project No. 1 - Chico State/Butte College Student Outreach, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Chico, CA, for $3,350 was funded before our opening ceremony.
  • Project No. 2 - Concordia Seminary St. Louis Food Bank, St. Louis, MO, for $6,000, was funded by the end of May.

God is good and so faithful to us in the CNH District.  Let us return that faith 10 fold in the support of all of our Grant Projects.

Remember 25% of our Mites go to LWML to help fund the mission work of our national organization.   Continue to send your Mites in each month especially doubling your effort at this time to help with our national mission goal that is now running behind.   Go to the LWML website (http://www.lwml.org/) to see the list of mission grants for this biennium.
